Further Education Department of the Academy organizes courses for those who are interested in improving their professional skills and academic knowledge-base. The department provides highly individualized education packages ranging from one-to-one instrument performance tuition courses to government approved programmes for graduates wishing to receive additional pedagogic rights or professional qualifications.

The individual as well as packaged courses offered by the Further Education Department include the use of Academy’s practice rooms and facilities (library, audiovisual technology, computers, sports equipment, etc.), provide opportunities to attend over 140 concerts and masterclasses annually in several performance spaces of the institution, to develop social contacts with fellow music professionals or enthusiasts, and to participate on-stage in selected events or performances.

The attendees of individual courses take charge of their development by freely choosing the number of required lessons and the period of tuition, enabling them to set their own pace of education under the expert guidance of Academy's tutors.

The academic staff of JVLMA consists of highly trained and dedicated professionals, renowned locally and internationally for their professional and pedagogic skills. The lists of Academy's tutors is available in the Academic Structures section of this webpage.

Upon course completion, the Further Education Department issues certificates of attendance, indicating the number of contact lessons attended, the period of studies, and, if applicable, results of examinations undertaken during the course.

"Being a student at JVLMA gave me the possibility of improving my education substantially, providing me with a solid technique and wide spectrum of artistic/intellectual ideas. The professors have active performing life, fact which enables them to lead the students onto the same road. The education quality at JVLMA is remarkable. Last but not least, many masterclasses held by invited professors from some of the most important academies in Europe (Tallinn, Vilnius, Helsinki, Copenhagen, London, amongst others) keep your mind open and refresh your study and practice habits as well as, most importantly, your approach to art and life." Edoardo Amendola, Further Education Department attendee, 2016.
