Associate professor, Department of Chamber Ensemble and Piano Accompaniment
Herta Hansena studied at Jāzeps Mediņš Music School and Secondary School with N.Golubkina and E.Strazdiņa. She graduated the Piano Performance Class of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music after studies with V.Brovaka and doc. L.Paula and received a Master’s Degree in Chamber Music after studies with prof. Gunta Sproģe. She further improved her skills at various masterclasses in Latvia and abroad; she also studied at Moscow State Music Academy with prof. G. Fedorenko.
Currently she teaches at Chamber Ensemble and Piano Accompaniment Department and works as an accompanist at Wind Instrument Department of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Students of Herta Hansena often achieve successes in international competitions; as an accompanist she has participated in international competitions for wind instruments and received several diplomas for her outstanding work.
She is amongst the most active Latvian accompanists and participates in numerous chamber music projects, giving performances in Latvia, Denmark, Austria and Germany.
