Ainars Šablovskis

Invited docent, Department of Wind instruments

Graduate of the J.Vitols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLAM) in 2002, prof. Artis Simanis' class; Master's Degree (JVLAM) in 2004. He is a laureate of several competitions - in 1998 he received 2 nd prize in the Latvian music college concert competition Nova Nomina; in 1999 he won 1 st prize in the JVLAM competition for Best Chamber Ensemble and 2 nd prize in the Yamaha Competition for Woodwind Instruments; he also won 2 nd prize in the saxophone competition "The Brilliant Note – 2000" in Staicele, Latvia.

In 2000 Ainars studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm with prof. Christer Johnsson, and he has taken masterclasses with Jørgen Bove and Claude Delangle.

He has performed saxophone parts with the Latvian National Opera Orchestra, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the professional symphonic band Riga and the Riga Festival Orchestra.
At present, Ainars Šablovskis is invited lecturer at the JVLAM and is director of Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary Music School.
