Lecturer, Department of Accompanists
Antra Vīksne is the Head of the Piano Department of Jāz. Mediņš Riga Music School and works as an accompanist at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and at Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music College Riga 85th Secondary School. She graduated prof. A. Zandmanis piano performance class of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in 1987 and formed a piano duet with Normunds Vīksne. She received her Master’s Degree in Chamber Music Performance from JVLMA (prof. Gunta Sproģe, Māris Švinka) and attended mastercourses of professor H. Ribera (Denmark) from Academia Baltica, masterclasses of prof. L. Pohjola (Finland) and H. Olaf (Germany).
In 2001 she received the Latvian Great Music Award. In 1997 she was awarded the 1st prize in professional’s category and a special prize for the best interpretation of the 20th century music in the 1st International Piano Duo Competition in Lithuania. From 1987 she has performed in concerts and festivals in Canada, USA, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Baltic States and Russia.
