Dominykas Vysniauskas

Guest lecturer, Department of Jazz Music

Lithuanian trumpeter and improviser Dominykas Vysniauskas is known for being skilled and versatile musician, who grew up surrounded by wide variety of music. In the process of exploring the grounds in musical styles, he continuously strives to find possible spaces where improvisation could appear.

D.Vyšniauskas participated at majority of Lithuanian Jazz festivals, and festivals abroad: North See Jazz (Netherlands), Cully (Switzerland), Reykjavik (Iceland), Ankara (Turkey), Tabasalu (Estonia), Minsk (Belarus), Leningrad (Russia), Junas (France) jazz festivals. His concert biography also includes a number of international projects. He performed with Vijay Iyer, Klaus Kugel, Hill Green, Dalius Naujokaitis, Michael Moore, Andreas & Mathias Pichler, Jazzwerkstatt, A.Bumšteinas, L.Mockunas,  Jan Mksimovicz,  Grazyna Auguscik, Jarek Bester, Secret Swing Society, Vapirov's Big Band, I.Bril, Estonian Dream Big Band, Mezkal Jazz Unit, Jazzwerkstatt, EBU EYJO European Youth Big Band Project “Swinging Europe”,  Gerd Hermann Ortler Orchestra (GHO) to mention but few.  As a partaker of various international projects, trumpeter toured throughout Europe, Iceland, Canada and USA.
D.Vyšniauskas studied at the Lithuanian academy of Music and Theatre (Vilnius), Leipzig Music College, SUNY Purchase College New York and Amsterdam Conservatoire.

Currently he is teaching in the University of VDU, Music Academy in Kaunas as well as Music Conservatoire  of  J. T. Kelpsa in Vilnius
