Ināra Jakubone

Research Assistant

Ināra Jakubone, Mag.art., graduated the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music Musicology Department in 1987, and commenced her carreer in the so called “practical musicology”. She worked at the Radio Latvia first( 1984 – 2006), authoring various programmes on music, and also producing concerts and live broadcasts for Latvian and Euroradio audiences. Then she directed Latvian Music Information Centre (2006-2018), providing many different publications (brochures “Music in Latvia”(7 editions), “Jazz in Latvia”, “Performing Arts/Latvia”, and more than 30 CDs).  

Her reviews and articles have been published in newspapers „Literatūra un Māksla”, “Literatūra. Māksla. Mēs”, “Latvijas avīze”, and magazines „Māksla”, “Mūzikas Saule” a.o. She was the classical department editor of the music magazine “Mūzikas Saule” (2000-2004) and has written CD programme notes for Latvian as well as international recording companies (SKANI, SCHOTT, ONDINE). In 2007 she translated into Latvian Steven Isserliss’  “Why Beethoven Threw The Stew”, published by “Jānis Roze”. 

Thanks to the invitiation to participate in the State research programme “CARD”, she researched the music life and cultural policies in Latvia during the 20th century interwar period. The music of the composers Pēteris Plakidis (1947-2017) and Pēteris Vasks (1946) is being researched now in the capacity of scientific assistant of the Academy’s Scientific research centre.
