Jeļena Bugajenko

Lecturer, Department of Accompanists

Lecturer and accompanist at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

Jelena was born in Riga. She learned her first piano skills at Pāvuls Jurjans Music School with Olga Kļaviņa and graduated from Jāzeps Mediņš Music High School in the class of Rašēle Zingarenko. While studying, she performed as a soloist with a secondary school symphony orchestra. In 1984, she graduated with distinction from the Piano Performance Class of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music after studies with Prof. Konstantīns Blūmentāls. In 2002 at JVLMA she received a professional Master's degree in Music.

During her studies, Jelena Bugajenko started working as an accompanist at JVLMA Music Pedagogy Department and is currently working at the Choir Conducting Department together with the leading Latvian conductors: Aira Birziņa, Romāns Vanags, Māris Sirmais, Jānis Baltiņš. Since 2004, she is participating in Jazeps Vitols International Choral Conductors Competitions.

In 2013 and 2014, Jelena was recognized by the management of JVLMA with a diploma "For outstanding and professional accompanist work".

Jelena is also the accompanist of the mixed choir group of the Riga City Council Cultural Association '' Ave Sol ''.

Jelena has participated in many international choir competitions and festivals abroad (Belgium, Germany, Holland, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Italy), choir annual reviews and concerts in Latvia, as well as in the 13th Latvian Song Festival in Canada (Hamilton, Ontario, 2009).

In the spring of 2018, Jelena has toured Japan accompanying the female choir "Dzintars" as part of the 5th Latvian Music Festival and the Latvian State Century Program.
