Viesturs Vārdaunis

Docent, Department of Wind Instruments

Artist of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra since 1990; he plays the Second Principal French-horn since 1995.
He has been studying French-horn playing in Jaz. Medins Music High School with Juris Ābolins and in J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music with Prof. Arvīds Klišāns. In 1996 Viesturs Vārdaunis received the diploma of master of music. V. Vārdaunis has an active concert life both in Latvia and abroad. Together with the orchestra he has travelled the whole Europe, but as a member of smaller groups – to Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Lithuania and Estonia.
He has been often collaborating with the orchestras Baltic Music Academy and Lithuanian National Symphony orchestra, both led by the conductor Joza Domarkas. In 1990 V. Vardaunis has been playing in Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra under the direction of G. Solti, M. Rostropovich, S. Bitschkov, K. Eschenbach and P. Bergman.
