Edgars Saksons

Associate professor, Percussion Performance Teaching

Percussion player in the Latvian National Symphony orchestra from 1996; he is the Principal percussion instruments since 1998.

He graduated E. Darzins Music School in 1989 and J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music in 1993. Edgars Saksons perfected his professional skills and knowledge studying for the master degree in the Latvian Academy of Music as well as in Utrechts Arts Academy in the Netherlands percussion class in 1995. Alongside with his activities in orchestra, E. Saksons has devoted serious part of his creative life to the performer activities in both – solo and chamber music projects. It is important to mention his collaboration with the orchestra Riga Chamber Players and piano duo Antra and Normunds Viksnes. Besides Edgars Saksons works as a lecturer in the J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music since 1999.
