Lecturer
Jānis Semjonovs was born in Latvia in 1982. Graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (the bassoon class of Andris Arnicāns) in 2006. Then he continued bassoon studies at the Universitat der Kunste Berlin in the class of well known bassoon professor Eckart Huebner and in the 2009. graduated the university. 2009.-2012. Jānis did the master degree with famous Latvian bassoon player Dzintars Jurgelaitis in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian academy of music.
Mr. Semjonovs is a prizewinner of several international competitions (The international woodwinds competition in the name of brothers Jurjans 2005.,2008). He has been performing in Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Japan, Estonia, Lithuania, Italy, Spain.
At the mean time Mr.Semjonovs is the lecturer in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of music. He works also as the solo bassoon player in the Latvian National symphony orchestra and the solo bassoon in the Latvian state chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Riga”(“Grammy Award” winner in 2014).
Several Latvian compousers (Kristaps Pētersons, Gundega Šmite, Aigars Raumanis, Platons Buravickis, Anitra Tumševica, Krišjānis Rērihs) has written pieces especially for Jānis Semjonovs. He also has played solo with different orchestras.
Mr.Semjonovs is well known as chamber music player and also organizer of different chamber music projects. He has been nominated for the Great Latvian Music Award in 2011.
