Research assistant, Department of Musicology

Laura Švītiņa is a PhD student in Historical Musicology at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Her research interests encompass the cultural practices of Latvian history and the field of digital humanities. She focuses on the musical life of interwar Latvia, exploring how nation-building, cosmopolitanism, and cultural exchanges shaped the representation of national music, particularly through music journalism.

Laura holds a Master's degree in Historical Musicology and works as a Research Assistant at the JVLMA Research Centre. She is also engaged in academic activities with students and oversees the Jāzeps Vītols Memorial Room.

Additionally, Laura is involved in a project “Towards the Development of an Open and FAIR Digital Humanities Ecosystem in Latvia,” led by the Institute of Literature, Folklore, and Art at the University of Latvia.
