Lolita Fūrmane graduated Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) where in 1995 she defended her doctoral work ‘Historic and Theoretic Aspects of Music Education in Latvia in the 19th Century and Beginning of the 20th Century’ and received her Dr.art degree.
Since 1989 she teaches at JVLMA; from 2001 until 2007 she was the Head of Music History Department there and in 2005 she was elected a full professor of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Lolita Fūrmane has published numerous scientific articles on the Renaissance period, legacy of European classical music and issues of Baltic German and Latvian music history. She has co-authored several books and has presented series of ‘Freemasonry and Music’ shows of Latvian Radio 3 ‘Klasika’.
