One of Riga’s legends – Latvian Academy of Music, this year, celebrating its 100th anniversary, will ring in the JVLMA (Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music) anniversary concert season with a concert “Crossing Time”.
History and nowadays will come together at the Dome Square, two stylistically different but brilliant collectives will step on stage – JVLMA Baroque Orchestra (artistic director Māris Kupčs) and the big band of JVLMA and Riga Dome Choir School (artistic director Dāvis Jurka).
The JVLMA Baroque Orchestra will be joined by soloists Elīna Šimkus, Ilze Grēvele-Skaraine, Terēze Gretere, Monta Martinsone (sopranos), Rinalds Kandalincevs (baritone), Maija Kļaviņa, Kristīne Stumbure (traversflutes) and Mauro Pinciaroli (lute, Italy). But the big band of JVLMA and RDKS (Riga Dome Choir School) will be joined on stage by Kārlis Vanags, Indriķis Veitners (saxophones), Madars Kalniņš (piano), Dominykas Vyšniauskas (trumpet, Lithuania), Evilena Protektore (vocal), Neff Irizarry (guitar, Puerto Rico), Jānis Rubiks (bass) and Artis Orubs (drums).
