Anna Vibe-Gorkuša from Latvia won the jazz composition contest

On November 30 at the concert "Latvijas Radio big band and Aija Vītoliņa. Nordic Jazz" we congratulated the young composer who won the fourth Big Band Composition Contest for Young Baltic and Nordic Composers jointly organized by the Jāzeps Vītolas Latvian Academy of Music and the Latvian Radio Big Band.

The jury awarded the first place to the representative from Latvia ANNA VIBE-GORKUŠA who entered the competition with the composition "Prologue". MIKKEL DAHL AMUNDSEN came in second place with the composition "Going", while the jury decided to award the third place to PETER ROBERTSTAD (Norway), who participated in the competition with the composition "Equilibrum".

The competition is supported by the State Cultural Capital Foundation, Erasmus+, Riga City Council and the National Library of Latvia.

The next Big Band Composition Contest for Young Baltic and Nordic composers will be announced in March 2024.
