Doctoral Student Aigars Raumanis to Premiere Ten New Works by Latvian Composers

On 14 May 2026 at 7.00 PM, saxophonist Aigars Raumanis invites audiences to SKATPUNKTS at the Aula of the Art Academy of Latvia, a concert featuring the world premieres of ten new works by Latvian composers for solo saxophone and saxophone with electronics.

For this project, Aigars Raumanis invited ten composers to create new works especially for this occasion. The programme includes premieres by Platons Buravickis, Andris Dzenītis, Diāna Gritāne, Ēriks Miezis, Henrijs Poikāns, Madara Pētersone, Edgars Raginskis, Agita Reķe, Kārlis Rērihs, and Armands Skuķis.

SKATPUNKTS has been conceived as a creative laboratory centred on close collaboration between composer and performer. The works have emerged through dialogue, exchange of ideas, and a shared search for interpretation, with each composer offering a distinct perspective both on the sonic and technical possibilities of the saxophone and on the collaborative process itself. In this way, the concert not only brings forward a substantial body of new Latvian music, but also reveals the many artistic forms that performer-composer collaboration can take.

This artistic research project forms part of Aigars Raumanis’s doctoral studies, which focus on models of collaboration between composer and performer in contemporary music.
