Programme of the international conference “Postcolonial situation in the arts after the collapse of the Soviet Union: experience, impact reassessment” announced

From April 9 to April 12 Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music will host an international interdisciplinary conference “Postcolonial situation in the arts after the collapse of the Soviet Union: experience, impact reassessment”.

It is co-organized by five partner institutions involved in the project – Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Latvian Culture Academy, Latvian Art Academy, Latvian National Library and the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia.

The KEYNOTES will be given by the distinguished experts of postcolonialism studies

  • Dorota Kołodziejczyk from the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and 
  • Benedikts Kalnačs from the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia.

The conference will gather more than 60 participants from 15 countries to spend together four intense days of sharing discoveries in art research focused on decolonization issues. The conference will be held IN ENGLISH.

The conference is a part of the project “Cultural and creative ecosystem of Latvia as a resource of resilience and sustainability”/CERS (No. VPP-MM-LKRVA-2023/1-0001) funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia in the framework of the State Research Programme “Latvian Culture – a Resource for National Development” (2023–2026). The State Research Programme is administered by the Latvian Council of Science.
